How we got here
Calculators Online started with a frustration familiar to anyone who’s ever searched “how much stamp duty do I pay” — only to find outdated, confusing, or overly simplified answers. We decided to build the tools we wished existed.
A gap in the market
We noticed that most UK online calculators were either too basic, loaded with ads, locked behind paywalls, or — worst of all — using outdated tax rates and rules. We set out to do it properly.
First tools launched
We launched with a handful of core financial calculators — rent affordability, gas rates, and ILR — each built from scratch using primary sources like HMRC guidance and UK government data.

Driven by user requests and real-world needs, we expanded rapidly. Take-home pay, stamp duty, inheritance tax, maternity pay, crypto tax — the list grew to cover every major financial decision a UK adult might face.
