A provisional driving licence costs £34 if you apply online through the GOV.UK website, or £43 if you apply by post using a D1 form from the Post Office.
According to the DVSA, the average learner requires around 45 hours of professional instruction with a qualified driving instructor, plus an additional 20 hours of private practice with a family member or friend, to pass the practical test.
The car and motorcycle theory test costs £23. The theory test for lorries and buses costs £26. You must pass the theory test before you can book your practical driving test.
The practical driving test for cars costs £62 if taken on a weekday (Monday to Friday). If you book a test on a weekday evening, weekend, or bank holiday, the fee is £75.
