Baby Size Conversion FAQ
Everything you need to know about converting UK baby clothing sizes to EU sizes.
UK baby clothes are usually labelled by age, such as Newborn, 0-3 months or 3-6 months. EU sizes are labelled by the baby’s height in centimetres, such as 50, 62 or 68. As a rough guide, UK Newborn is EU 50, UK 0-3 months is EU 56 to 62, and UK 3-6 months is EU 68.
Height is generally more accurate than age, since babies grow at very different rates. EU sizing is based directly on height in centimetres, so if you know your baby’s height it will usually give you a better fitting size than relying on their age alone.
A UK Newborn (NB) size typically corresponds to EU size 50, which covers babies up to around 55cm in height and roughly 3.5 to 4.5kg in weight. Some brands also label this size as 0 months or Prem for smaller babies.
Yes. While the UK-to-EU size conversion follows a general standard, individual brands can cut their clothing slightly larger or smaller. It is always worth checking the specific brand’s own size guide alongside a general converter, especially for outerwear and sleepsuits.
