Trixie Bet FAQ
Everything you need to know about placing a Trixie bet, understanding the odds, and maximizing your sports betting strategy in the UK.
A Trixie bet is a popular combination wager consisting of 4 bets involving 3 selections: 3 doubles and 1 treble. Unlike a Patent, it does not include any single bets, meaning you need at least two selections to win to get a return.
Because a Trixie consists of 4 separate bets (3 doubles and 1 treble), a £1 unit stake Trixie costs a total of £4. A £5 unit stake would cost £20, and so on. The total stake is always 4 times your unit stake.
If one selection loses, the treble and two of the doubles will lose. However, the remaining double (involving the two winning selections) will still pay out, meaning you get a partial return. If two or more selections lose, the entire Trixie bet is lost.
The return is calculated by multiplying the odds of the winning selections together for each double and the treble, then multiplying by the unit stake. The total return is the sum of all winning bets. If all 3 selections win, all 4 bets pay out.
A Trixie is chosen when a bettor is confident that at least two of their three selections will win. It offers higher potential returns than a Patent (which includes singles) for the same unit stake, but carries the risk of a total loss if fewer than two selections win.
