Peptide Calculator FAQ

Everything you need to know about reconstituting, dosing, and storing research peptides.

To reconstitute a peptide vial, divide the total mg of peptide by your target concentration (mg/mL) to get the volume of bacteriostatic water to add. For example, a 5 mg vial of BPC-157 reconstituted to 2.5 mg/mL requires 2 mL of bacteriostatic water. Always inject the water slowly down the side of the vial and never shake — swirl gently to dissolve. Store reconstituted peptides in the refrigerator (2–8°C).

Divide your desired dose in mcg by the concentration in mcg/mL. First convert mg/mL to mcg/mL by multiplying by 1000. For example, a 2.5 mg/mL solution = 2500 mcg/mL. A 250 mcg dose = 250 ÷ 2500 = 0.1 mL. On a U-100 insulin syringe (1 mL = 100 units), this equals 10 units. This calculator performs the conversion automatically.

Most research peptides are injected subcutaneously using U-100 insulin syringes. A 0.3 mL (30 unit) syringe with a 29–31 gauge needle is ideal for most doses under 300 mcg. A 0.5 mL (50 unit) syringe works well for doses between 300–500 mcg, and a 1 mL (100 unit) syringe is used for larger volumes. Always use a fresh, sterile needle for every injection.

Most reconstituted peptides remain stable for 2–4 weeks when stored in a refrigerator at 2–8°C, protected from light. Lyophilized (unmixed) peptide powder is far more stable — typically 12–24 months in the fridge, or up to 2 years when frozen at -20°C. Always use bacteriostatic water (containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol) rather than sterile water for reconstitution, as this extends shelf life by preventing bacterial growth.

Divide the total mg in the vial by your single dose in mg. For example, a 5 mg vial with a 250 mcg (0.25 mg) dose = 20 doses. This calculator can also factor in frequency (doses per day) and days per week to show how many vials you need per month.

Some peptides can be combined (stacked) in the same syringe — for example, BPC-157 and TB-500 are frequently mixed this way because they are chemically compatible. However, peptides like GHRP-6 and CJC-1295 should be drawn separately unless the supplier has pre-blended them. Never mix peptides with different pH requirements or that are known to precipitate together. When in doubt, draw them in separate syringes.

Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which acts as a preservative to inhibit bacterial growth. Unlike plain sterile water, bacteriostatic water can be used multiple times over several weeks, making it essential for reconstituting multi-dose peptide vials. It is not suitable for newborns or single-use IV applications, but is the standard solvent for research peptide storage.

“mg” stands for milligram and “mcg” (or μg) stands for microgram. There are 1000 micrograms in one milligram. Peptide vials are usually labelled in mg (e.g., 5 mg), but doses are often measured in mcg (e.g., 250 mcg). So a 5 mg vial contains 5000 mcg of peptide. This calculator handles all conversions automatically.
