Work Out Your True Earnings

Whether you’re comparing job offers, negotiating a pay rise, or just curious what your time is worth, this calculator converts your hourly rate into every pay period you need, including overtime.

How the Calculation Works

Five steps from hourly rate to yearly income

1

Start With Your Hourly Rate

Enter your base pay per hour before any tax, National Insurance, or pension deductions are applied.

2

Add Your Standard Hours

Enter how many hours you work in a typical day and how many days per week, or simply your total weekly hours.

3

Include Any Overtime

If you regularly work extra hours, add them along with your overtime multiplier, such as time-and-a-half (1.5x) or double time (2x).

4

Set Your Working Weeks

By default the calculator assumes 52 working weeks a year. Adjust this if you take extended unpaid leave or work seasonally.

5

Review the Breakdown

See your gross pay instantly broken down by day, week, month and year, updated live as you adjust any field.

⚠️ Gross, Not Net: The figures produced are gross earnings. Your actual take-home pay will be lower once Income Tax, National Insurance, student loan repayments, and any pension contributions are deducted.
£
Yearly Gross Pay £0.00
Daily Pay £0.00
Weekly Pay £0.00
Monthly Pay £0.00
Overtime Pay / Week £0.00
💡 Note: Monthly pay is estimated as yearly pay divided by 12, which better reflects how salaries are typically paid than multiplying a weekly figure by 4.

Hourly Wage FAQ

Answers to the most frequently asked questions about calculating pay from an hourly rate.

Multiply your hourly rate by the number of hours you work per week, then multiply that figure by 52 weeks. For example, £15 an hour at 37.5 hours a week works out to roughly £29,250 a year before tax and deductions.

The figures produced are gross pay, meaning your earnings before Income Tax, National Insurance, student loan repayments, or pension contributions are deducted. Your actual take-home pay will be lower than the gross amount shown.

Overtime is usually calculated by multiplying your standard hourly rate by an overtime multiplier, commonly 1.5 for time-and-a-half or 2 for double time, then multiplying that by the number of overtime hours worked.

A full-time employee working 37.5 hours a week for 52 weeks works approximately 1,950 hours a year, though this varies depending on contracted hours, part-time arrangements, and paid holiday entitlement.
