MPG (miles per gallon) and miles per kWh measure different things. A typical efficient EV achieves around 3.5 to 4.5 miles per kWh. To compare costs, calculate the cost per mile: (Fuel price per litre × 4.546) ÷ MPG for petrol/diesel, and (Electricity price per kWh) ÷ miles per kWh for an EV.
