The Three Biorhythm Cycles

The standard biorhythm theory tracks three primary cycles that begin at birth. Each cycle oscillates between positive (high energy) and negative (low energy) phases.

Biorhythm FAQ

Everything you need to understand biological rhythms, from the basic sine wave formula to real-world cycle applications.

A biorhythm is a hypothetical cycle that tracks human life and development from birth. The theory suggests that our daily lives are heavily influenced by three distinct biological rhythms: a 23-day physical cycle, a 28-day emotional cycle, and a 33-day intellectual cycle.

Biorhythms are calculated using sine waves based on the number of days you have been alive. The formula is sin(2πt / T), where ‘t’ is the number of days since birth, and ‘T’ is the length of the cycle (23, 28, or 33 days). The result is a percentage from -100% to +100%.

The three primary cycles are: Physical (23 days) which governs strength, endurance, and coordination; Emotional (28 days) which affects mood, sensitivity, and creativity; and Intellectual (33 days) which influences logic, memory, and analytical thinking.

A critical day occurs when a biorhythm cycle crosses the zero line (transitioning from positive to negative or vice versa). It is believed to be a period of instability or transition, where one should be more cautious in the corresponding area of life.

Biorhythm theory is considered pseudoscience by the mainstream scientific community. While circadian rhythms (24-hour sleep-wake cycles) are scientifically proven, the 23-, 28-, and 33-day cycles lack empirical evidence. However, many people find them useful for self-reflection and tracking personal patterns.
