A UK king duvet measures 225 × 220 cm (about 88.5 × 86.5 in). The closest US size is Queen at 88 × 88 in (223.5 × 223.5 cm), a difference of only 1.5 cm in width and 3.5 cm in length.
A UK super king duvet measures 260 × 220 cm. The closest US size is King at 104 × 88 in (264 × 223.5 cm), so the two are almost interchangeable.
US comforters are cut larger to drape over the sides of the mattress. A US Twin comforter is 68 × 88 in (about 173 × 224 cm), while a UK single duvet is 135 × 200 cm, so a UK single is roughly 38 cm narrower.
Only when the sizes are close. UK king covers fit US Queen duvets and UK super king covers fit US King duvets within a few centimetres. For single, double and emperor sizes the gap is too large, so buy a cover that matches the exact duvet dimensions.
