💡 Formula: DPCM = DPI ÷ 2.54, and DPI = DPCM × 2.54. This is because one inch is defined as exactly 2.54 centimetres.

DPI to DPCM FAQ

Everything you need to know about converting between dots per inch and dots per centimetre.

DPCM stands for dots per centimetre, a measure of print or scan resolution used mainly in metric countries. It describes how many printed dots or pixels fit within one centimetre, in the same way DPI describes dots per inch.

To convert DPI to DPCM, divide the DPI value by 2.54, since one inch equals 2.54 centimetres. For example, 300 DPI divided by 2.54 equals approximately 118.11 DPCM.

For most high quality printing, 300 DPI is the standard target, which equals roughly 118 DPCM. Lower resolutions like 150 DPI (about 59 DPCM) are often acceptable for large format prints viewed from a distance, such as posters and banners.

Not exactly. PPI (pixels per inch) describes the resolution of a digital image or screen, while DPI (dots per inch) technically refers to the physical dots a printer places on paper. In everyday use, however, the two terms are often used interchangeably.
