BBQ Budget Calculator FAQ
Everything you need to know about planning, shopping, and budgeting for a successful UK barbecue.
A good rule of thumb is to plan for 0.5 lbs (about 225g) of raw meat per adult guest. For children, plan for 0.25 lbs (about 110g). If your guests are big eaters or the BBQ is the only food being served, increase this to 0.75 lbs per adult.
On average, a standard UK BBQ costs between £8 and £15 per person. This includes a portion of meat (sausages, burgers, chicken), basic side dishes (salad, bread), drinks, and a share of the charcoal or gas costs.
Plan for approximately 2 drinks per person for the first two hours, and 1 additional drink per person for every hour after that. Always include a good selection of non-alcoholic options like water, sodas, and juices.
Don’t forget to budget for charcoal or gas, firelighters, aluminium foil, disposable plates, cups, napkins, bin bags, and condiments (ketchup, BBQ sauce, mustard). These can add £20–£40 to your total budget.
