Crossbow is a professional-grade herbicide containing Triclopyr and 2,4-D. It is widely used in the UK for controlling tough broadleaf weeds, brambles, nettles, thistles, and woody brush in pastures, rangeland, and non-crop areas. It is highly effective on deep-rooted perennial weeds.
The standard mix rate for Crossbow depends on the target weed. For general broadleaf weeds and thistles, a 0.6% to 1.0% solution (6-10ml per litre) is used. For tougher brambles, nettles, and woody brush, a 1.5% to 2.0% solution (15-20ml per litre) is recommended. Always consult the product label for specific rates.
Crossbow already contains built-in adjuvants and surfactants, so you generally do not need to add a separate wetter or spreading agent. However, for very waxy leaves or extremely tough woody plants, some professionals may add a specific non-ionic surfactant to improve uptake, though it is not strictly required.
There are generally no grazing restrictions for meat dairy animals following the application of Crossbow herbicide. However, it is always best practice to keep animals off the treated area until the spray has completely dried on the foliage to prevent them from grazing on freshly treated plants.
When mixing and applying Crossbow, you should wear chemical-resistant gloves, safety goggles or a face shield, long sleeves, long trousers, and closed footwear. If spraying in enclosed areas or if there is a risk of inhalation, a suitable respirator mask should also be worn.
