In Persona 3 Reload, fusing two Personas produces a result determined by two factors: the Arcana combination of the two ingredients (which sets the result Arcana), and the average level of the two Personas (which sets the result level). The lowest-level Persona in the result Arcana whose level is greater than or equal to the average is produced.
Arcana are the major categories that every Persona belongs to, borrowed from tarot card suits. Examples include Fool, Magician, Priestess, Empress, Emperor, Hierophant, Lovers, Chariot, Justice, Hermit, Fortune, Strength, Hanged Man, Death, Temperance, Devil, Tower, Star, Moon, Sun, and Judgement. The Arcana of the two fused Personas determines the result Arcana.
Yes, fusing two Personas of the same Arcana is allowed in Persona 3 Reload. The result Arcana is determined by a special same-Arcana fusion rule, and will generally produce a Persona from a different Arcana based on the game’s internal fusion chart.
Fusion Accidents are rare random events where the fusion produces a completely different Persona from the expected result. The accidental result is always a random Persona of the correct result Arcana, but at a different level. Fusion Accidents cannot be predicted or forced — they are entirely random.
Yes. A higher Social Link (Arcana Link) rank with the result Persona’s Arcana grants bonus experience to the newly fused Persona. At maximum Social Link rank (Rank 10), the bonus is at its highest, giving the new Persona significantly more starting experience points — often enough to be close to the next level immediately.
